An Important Announcement From the Doable Guys Team
The team at Doable Guys is saddened by the recent accusations against our figure drawing group. The reason we started the group in the first place was to create a space where everyone felt welcome and comfortable. If we have failed at that with any of you, we deeply apologize from the bottom of our hearts. The team (Kyle, Lena, Court, and Michael) will always be open to feedback and conversations, and if you ever feel otherwise, we encourage you to approach us at any time, in person, through email, or in our DMs. We are obviously not perfect, but we understand that everyone’s idea of "comfortable" is different, and we will try our best to accommodate everyone.
We would also like to reiterate that we put our model’s comfort at the top of our priorities. We provide an open forum for them to express themselves however they would like, and that can be seen in the wide variety of poses that are shared by our talented group of artists. Absolutely everyone who walks through that door, artist or model, should not feel any uneasiness in that room.
Unfortunately, a complaint has been made at a level that has taken the control out of our hands and we must make some changes. We are having to implement these as quickly as possible to avoid any disruption in our events, so have patience with us as we figure out the details.
Moving forward, all artists must be members to draw with us. This pains us most of all. We want everyone to feel welcome; we want new people to be able to experience figure drawing. Adding the phrase “members only” sounds like gatekeeping, which is the antithesis of our mission statement. However, it must be done, and we aren’t asking for much. To become a member you must join our mailing list. (Folks who are currently figure drawing members will be upgraded to a Premium membership, with all the same benefits as before. Expect an email by the end of the week.)
We can no longer publicize who the model will be on instagram or publicly on our website. The only announcement will be through our members mailing list.
The front door will remain locked. To gain access until a buzzer is installed, please text the number provided in the mailing list and we will let you in. That said, any late arrivals (after 7:05) will have to wait outside until the following break to be let in.
We’re sorry for any confusion or frustration this may cause, trust us, it’s just as frustrating for us. So again, please bear with us over the next month or two while we work out the kinks. The community that has developed over the last 10 years of running this group is truly incredible and it makes us so happy to see everyone connecting in that room. We look forward to continuing these sessions with you all for years to come.
